Goals within the Kingston community includes; to work with communities to enhance healthy food access for low-income individuals and families in Kingston; to increase the amount of fresh food available through local meal programs and to combat food waste and its adverse environmental effects; and to build community awareness of the multiple factors that contribute to food

Salvation Army

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army, through its Rideau Heights Community Church, Bread of Life program, runs an emergency food program where residents of the Rideau Heights neighborhood can receive a hot meal during the last seven days of each month, January through November. The Robinson Community Gardens provide fresh vegetables for this program during the harvesting season as well as enabling fresh produce to be preserved either through canning or freezing for use throughout the year.
